Is Desire Sustained through repitition?
Obsession emerges as attention that repeatedly returns to the same subject over time. What is symbolised is not a single, fixed moment, but a sense of ongoing persistence. Within this space, desire and fixation fold into one another, producing intimacy.
If the attempt to capture a “true self” leads instead to the recognition that such a self is orchestrated within the photograph, repetition does not reveal an essential being so much as shape a desired presence. Through prolonged attention, presence is constructed rather than possessed. To return to a subject is to engage with their complexity as it takes form within the act of image-making.
